Name:Henry, Prince of Wales
Birthdate:Feb 3

This is an account for Prince Hal (Henry, Prince of Wales, future King of England) from the BBC version of Shakespeare's Henry IV Parts One and Two, and Henry V.

Hal isthe eldest son of King Henry IV, nicknamed 'Hal' or 'Harry', sometimes called 'Harry Monmouth' after the place of his birth. Henry was born in the tower above the gatehouse of Monmouth Castle (and for that reason was sometimes called Henry of Monmouth). He was the son of Henry of Bolingbroke, later Henry IV, and sixteen-year-old Mary de Bohun. He was also the grandson of the influential John of Gaunt and great-grandson of Edward III of England. At the time of his birth, the king was his cousin once removed Richard II, and Henry was not in the apparent line to succeed to the throne, so his date of birth was not officially documented. His grandfather, John of Gaunt, was the guardian of the king at that time. Two birth dates are suggested: 9 August or 16 September, in either 1386 or 1387.

By the time of the play, Hal has forsaken the Royal Court to waste his time in taverns with low companions. This makes him an object of scorn to the nobles and calls into question his royal worthiness. Hal's chief friends and foils in living the low life are Falstaff, Bardolph, Peto, and Ned Poins, who have a charisma and a zest for life that captivates the Prince, born into a world of hypocritical pieties and mortal seriousness.

Hal's T-Minus tag in Milliways is < b > < font face = "courier" color = "800080" > equivocalSovereign < / font > < / b > , without all the annoying spaces, which comes out to look like this: equivocalSoverign.

Prince Hal is from from Shakespeare's 'Henry IVth' via the BBC version known as 'The Hollow Crown', and as a character is in the public domain; some of the icons, however, may be property of the BBC. He appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in [community profile] milliways_bar, from which no profit whatsoever is being made.Mun and Muse are over 18.
